Toad Road slate painting by Timothy

Toad Road slate painting by Timothy

For years, I have been rescuing slate from an old flint mill ruin beside Toad Road. This slate may have come from the roof of the old mill, or it might be left from their stock, as they used to sell Peach Bottom slate at the mill:

While I have amassed quite a few pieces of this slate, there is, over time, less and less to be had. I believe I may have secured the last of it. Occasionally, I paint these slates and offer them for sale.

You can find people selling dubiously "haunted" objects various places online, and I am not claiming these slates to be haunted in any way. They are, however, a genuine relic of a paranormal place – painted by me, the historian and lore-keeper of Toad Road.

These slates would have been mined in the 1800s, from the Delta quarries – which fall within the "circle of strangeness" I have spoken and written about, from that part of the county.

This slate is approximately 8.5" wide x 18.5" long (measuring at the widest and longest points). Signed on the front with artist's sigil – signature on reverse. This is a one-of-a-kind object.

I am going to, once again, offer this piece as a silent auction. Bids start at $160.00 plus postage*. Auction closes at 11:59 PM Sunday, January 26, 2025.

Email bids to: timothy@darkhollerarts.com – please put "bid" in the email subject.

Payment via PayPal with 3 days of auction end.

If this does not sell via auction, I will put it on etsy for sale – with a higher price than the auction starting price.

*The slate itself ways over four pounds and must be packed VERY securely so it is not damaged in shipping. Postage costs will reflect this.
