The Sly Bold Reynardine

Episode 260

In the first of an ongoing series exploring supernatural elements in traditional folk ballads, Timothy and Alison discuss the ballad now known as Reynardine - what it was and what it has become. Is Reynardine a werefox, some other kind of faerie creature, or simply a normal, mortal, man? We explore some fox folklore from around the world, then break down the lyrics ofReynardine before Timothy shares his newly recorded arrangement of the song. Finally, we discuss a Pennsylvania werefox legend and hear Stone Breath's song based on the story, The Red Dog Fox.
