Strangeness Along the Swatara
Episode 183
We explore some stories of paranormal events which happened along the Swatara Creek near Indian Echo Caverns. 1910 stories tell of a possible white bigfoot, or perhaps the “Jersey Devil”, which attacked and killed 23 chickens in the area. Even earlier stories tell of ghosts, witches, a black dog, and an entity known as The Headless Wood-Chopper…could this be the oldest Flannel Man account we have found yet? We also hear stories of will-o-the-wisps and mystery lights seen in the area. Next, we return to Indian Echo Caverns and hear stories of Masons in the cave as well as a mysterious box found on the premises which held, among other things, an alchemical formula to create diamonds using lightening. Finally, we return to the hermit, William Amos Wilson, to hear his own words, “The Sweets of Solitude, or Instructions to Mankind.”
